Recall from earlier posts (Napolean and the Love Triangle), that Banderas, the pony, has been no fan of the new interloper in Quarter Horse clothing. The pony’s aggressive behavior did curtail after they were turned out together without the interference of a third horse, but it was still no love fest. Every day involved a good deal of flattened ear and crabby pants behavior.
Banderas’ reigning policy regarding matters of food and Smoke to this point has been one of zero tolerance and fleet foot. Recently, The Big Horse has been on his own in the big pasture; leaving Smoke and Banderas marooned in a small turnout together. Hay feeding for the two of them evolved into a complicated system of tiny crop circle like mounds scattered across the turnout tundra. A pain for morning feedings in the freezing cold and short schedule, but ensured the pony didn’t hog all the hay.
Suddenly, yesterday: oh how the mighty have fallen. Banderas is the one chased from hay pile to hay pile; the one to get calmly pushed out when only a single stack remains. Guess Smoke finally got tired of being bullied. Viva la revolucion!

Ahhh they have sorted it out! Good for you; will save time placing little hay crop circles (loved that!).
