Greyhound: Before & After
Our greyhound is learning to be a “chore dog”. This means being off the leash when he’s back in the fenced in barnyard. He’s starting to listen when called. If he feels like it. These pictures are from last night:
Freedom!
Whew…Tuckered Out:
No, he’s not spoiled at all.

My friend has a rescue greyhound. He is equally as spoiled.

Oh I miss my greyhound, she passed on at aged 13 a few years ago, but one of the best dogs I’ve had the pleasure of keeping. I love greyhounds. Brightie was so sweet and loving!

Callie - didn’t realize you had a greyhound in the past. Aren’t they just great dogs?
RR - It’s hard not to spoil these guys. This one’s in his retirement too…and seems to think this means he should be waited on hand and foot. (paw?)

I miss our greyhounds. My mom raised a couple of litters but quit because she couldn’t bear to send them to the tracks.
Her fawn female was just the most gorgeous thing ever and the sweetest. She was never raced. Her white female was deaf. That is how we ended up with her. Her favorite treat was marshmellows. And because she was off the tracks and deaf-she was hell on my cats. Trained to chase and no way to call her off(don’t think we could have anyway…).
Thanks for bringing those memories back. Those dogs were great. Two of the best we ever had.

What a sweet, sweet lucky dog!
My neighbor just adopted a greyhound and says it is the most wonderful dog she has ever had … and she has adopted many.

He is a sweetie; although I didn’t think so today when he tore after the kitten. He’s having unfortunately a “re-awakening” of his prey drive. They are absolutely wonderful dogs, I’d recommend them to anyone - even apartment dwellers; they adapt to your lifestyle really well.

BEC - greyhound puppies! I can hardly stand the thought of how cute that would be. Glad you’ve enjoyed your times with the hounds as well.

We don’t have any greyhounds but we do have two rescue dogs. I think rescue dogs get that they are being given a second chance….That’s why every dog in my whole family is a rescue. I found your blog on mrs mom’s equine blog. I’ll be adding your blog to my blogroll, btw.

He is a cutie. Good for you on the rescue dogs; it’s a great way to go. They do seem to “know” don’t they? Thanks for stopping by and commenting. Hope to see you back soon.
